  • About Me Wilford H. Welch, author of In Our Hands and The Tactics of Hope, has spent over five decades exploring global challenges. As a U.S. diplomat in Asia, consultant across four continents, and publisher of a global affairs magazine, his work reflects deep international experience. His autobiography shares insights from leadership, diplomacy, and innovation. He developed future planning scenarios for Citibank, Toyota, the U.S. Navy, and the Korean Government, and led the Wealth of Nations Index research, measuring progress across 63 variables. Passionate about environmental education, Wilford chaired NatureBridge Golden Gate and NOLS, leading a 1994 Everest team that removed 5,000 pounds of waste and introduced the “Leave No Trace” ethic. His life highlights purpose, action, and global understanding.
